What paint protection film does

Paint protection film (PPF) is a clear urethane layer applied to painted panels. When a stone hits at highway speed, the film absorbs and disperses the energy — the impact marks the film instead of chipping your paint. It is the only mainstream product that genuinely defends against impact damage.

Pricing starts at $1,250 and depends on the vehicle, the coverage area, the preparation required, and the film selected. Common configurations include a full front package (bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors), targeted panels, or complete vehicle coverage.

Many modern films include a self-healing top coat that lightens fine swirls and marring with warmth, and PPF can be installed under or over ceramic coating depending on the system. We will explain the exact film and options for your vehicle at estimate time.

California regulates how dark window tint may be on each window position. Read our plain-language guide on the California window tint law page and confirm your choice complies before booking. This is educational information, not legal advice.

Benefits & Honest Limits

Why Owners Choose PPF

  • Real impact defense

Guards painted panels against certain stone chips and road debris — the damage coatings cannot stop.

  • Nearly invisible

Quality film is optically clear and, installed well, is very hard to see on the vehicle.

  • Preserves resale value

Original paint in good condition matters at trade-in or sale — PPF helps keep it that way.

  • Flexible coverage

From high-impact front panels to the full vehicle, coverage scales with your budget and plans.

Honest limits: no film makes paint indestructible — very sharp or extreme impacts can still cause damage. Pricing depends on the vehicle, coverage area, preparation, and film selected; the $1,250 figure is a starting point, not a quote.

Good to Know

Compatibility & Eligibility

Window tinting suits nearly every vehicle — sedans, SUVs, trucks, and EVs including Teslas. A few notes:

  • Existing tint: old film can usually be removed; mention it when booking so we schedule enough time.
  • Factory privacy glass: rear glass often already has some tint; the legal measurement is the film-plus-glass combination.
  • New glass: if you recently replaced a windshield or window, tell us — fresh installations may need a short wait.
  • Legality: we configure every job to comply with California rules for each window position.

Paint Protection Film FAQs

Pricing starts at $1,250 and varies with the vehicle, coverage area, preparation, and film selected. A full-front package on a typical sedan differs from full coverage on a large SUV — request an estimate for an accurate number in writing.

Installed well, quality clear film is very difficult to see. We wrap edges where possible and finish panels so the film disappears visually.

They do different jobs. PPF absorbs impacts; coating adds gloss and easier cleaning. Many owners run film on high-impact panels and coating over the rest — or coating over film, depending on the products used.

Longevity depends on the film product, care, and exposure. Film manufacturers specify durability tiers for their products — ask us which film we install for your quote and what its warranty documentation says. Verified warranty terms will be published here once confirmed.
